Table Talk is a musical tribute to the card game Euchre (pronounced yoo-ker). Band mates Josh Deutsch (trumpet), Eugenia Choe (piano), Sam Trapchak (bass) and Alex Wyatt (drums) have been friends and colleagues for well over a decade. They frequently convene for drinks, lunch, and even breakfast to play a few rounds of Euchre, which is ubiquitous in the Midwest. Incidentally the make-up of this card-playing cabal provided the perfect instrumentation for a jazz quartet and Table Talk was born. All members of the group contribute compositions for this project. Those who’ve played the game will surely recognize that the titles of the songs are taken from distinctive terms and phrases used during Euchre game-play.
